Every summer I look forward to the abundant seasonal activities our region has to offer. One fantastic free event that I enjoy each summer is going to the free music in Vasona Lake Park in Los Gatos on Saturdays during June and July. Held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., these concerts, dubbed “Vasona Vibrations” are wonderful, relaxed and family friendly events. Since getting parking inside the park gates can be costly ($10), I recommend parking on University Avenue south of the office parks (about midway between Blossom Hill Road and Lark Avenue) and walking in the back gates to attend.

Vasona Lake Park has a number of fun activities in addition to the concerts, there are several playgrounds, paddle boats to rent, a carousel (Billy’s Wildcat Railroad) for kids, and in the winter, an extensive holiday light display that can be viewed from the warmth and comfort of your car. One of my favorite things to do in the park is walk along the Los Gatos Creek and dip my toes into the cool, fresh water.

This park is wonderful for dates, kids, families, or just a casual afternoon of reading under the shade.
