As many of you know, I’m always on the lookout for fun campout and activities. This year, I saw an ad for The North Face’s Basecamp – and signed up right away! This campout is a steal, at only $100, you get a tent for two people, dinner and activities all included – plus swag! They even transport you to the event on buses.

The SF Bay Area event was the last of seven held across the country this year. This was their largest event, given that TNF’s headquarters are local (at least, until they move to Denver). Our event lasted from Friday evening to Sunday morning, complete with food, drinks and entertainment.

Held in August at Big Basin Vineyards this year, our event was a fantastic experience. Our bus left from the Sunnyvale Sports Basement, and I made plenty of new friends on the ride out. My tent was set up for me on arrival, and there were plenty of drinks, games and music for the entire weekend.

We had amazing meals catered onsite with a lovely view of the mountains. One of my favorite cider brands, Golden State Cider, sponsored the event – so I was indeed a happy camper. Saturday featured a guided hike, yoga classes and live music with a campfire and s’mores. They also did a night photography class, which was super helpful in learning how to capture the stars.

While the Port-o-Potties were sorely overused and a few other details weren’t ideal, overall for the price you pay, this event is a fantastic deal. I’d definitely go back again and again.
